Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Overtime Unkind to Foresters at Trine

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team was defeated 2-1 in overtime at Trine University in Friday night's weekend series opener.

The Foresters took the early lead just five minutes into the contest on Tallulah Bryant's fourth goal of the season. Fellow junior forward Jasmine Kohl gained control of the puck in the left corner of the offensive zone and skated behind the goal. She sent the puck to the front of the crease to Bryant, who did not miss from point blank range.

The score remained 1-0 for nearly 21 minutes of game time until the Thunder converted on the first power play opportunity of the evening for either team.

Lake Forest out-shot Trine 10-6 in the opening period but the teams were even at 30 by the end of regulation. Faceoffs were a different story as the home team won 37 of 51 on the night, including one to begin overtime and set up the game-winner just 10 seconds into the extra period.

Forester junior goaltender Chelsea Denniss stopped 29 of 31 shots on goal in the contest, including 20 in a row during the second and third periods. She raised her save percentage on the season to .923.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record to 8-9-0 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 6-5-0. The Foresters earned one point in the conference standings while Trine took two and is now 6-10-2 overall and 2-8-1 in the league.

The same two teams will face off again at Trine Saturday afternoon at 3:00 (ET).
