A second-half comeback came up just short for the Lake Forest women's basketball team, as the Foresters dropped a Midwest Conference game to Beloit College on Tuesday night, 60-48.

Ariana Rodriguez had a career game off the bench for the Foresters. The freshmen set new career highs with nine points and three assists.
Anika Kinnear also scored nine points and hauled in five rebounds.
Ella Franck chipped in eight points, and
Sara Mills set a new career high with three steals.

Ten different Foresters scored for the game, as Lake Forest leaned on its depth to make a run in the second half. The Foresters' bench was a spark, as Lake Forest held a 26-2 advantage in bench points. Â

Lake Forest (2-13, 0-6 MWC) utilized a 15-0 run from its reserves from the end of the third quarter into the fourth quarter to put pressure on the visitors and cut the Beloit lead to 50-44 with just under seven minutes remaining.

Rodriguez scored seven of the 15 points as the Foresters used quick ball movement and tenacious defense to cut into the lead. Lake Forest held Beloit scoreless for more than five minutes of game action during the run.

Lake Forest would again trim the deficit to six points, 52-46, on a layup from Franck with 3:26 left, but could not get any closer. The Foresters held Beloit to just 1-of-11 shooting in the final quarter.

After shooting just 22.6 percent from the field in the first half, Lake Forest shot a much more efficient 39.3 percent after halftime.

Lake Forest will return to action Saturday, as the Foresters travel to Knox College for a game tipping off at 3:00 p.m. The Foresters were bested by the Prairie Fire 74-44 in their first meeting this season in Lake Forest on Jan. 3.
