Soccer players Peter Cirbo and Anna Hoffman were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Cirbo scored two goals and assisted on another in his team's 4-0 season-opening victory over visiting Saint Mary's University on Saturday. The junior midfielder's first goal put Lake Forest on top 2-0 at the 35:40 mark and he struck again on a penalty kick with just 2:53 remaining in the first half. The Foresters' final score of the day was set up by a Cirbo cross, giving him a career-high five points in the contest.
A First Team All-Midwest Conference selection after finishing the 2024 season with seven goals and 19 points, Cirbo is already more than a fourth of the way to both totals. He now has 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists in his collegiate career.
Hoffman also had two goals and an assist over the weekend. The senior midfielder started the scoring in the 36th minute of Friday's 4-1 triumph at Greenville University and in the 19th minute of a 6-1 victory at Webster University on Saturday. She also set up a goal just 21 seconds after scoring herself at Webster.
Hoffman now ranks tied-for-eighth in team history with 33 career goals and, with 81 points, she is just two away from entering the program's top 10 in that category as well. The 2024 MWC Offensive Player of the Year has now scored at least once in 11 of the team's last 17 contests.
Cirbo is now a two-time Forester Athlete of the Week while Hoffman has earned the award four times in her career.
