The 2024 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Preseason Coaches Poll was released on Friday and the Foresters were second in the rankings.
Voting is done by the SLIAC head women's golf coaches. Each coach votes for the other nine schools in the league in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (9 points for first, 8 for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own teams.
Grinnell College was atop the poll with 81 points and received nine first place votes. The other went to the Foresters, who were second on all the other brackets and tallied 73 points. With 56 points, Spalding University ranked third and was followed closely by Illinois College (51) and Mississippi University for Women (50).
Lake Forest returns the most accomplished player in program history in Gabrielle Krebs, a three-time Second Team All-SLIAC honoree in Sydney Foulon, and three others (Alijah Campbell, Ashlyn Bhatia, and Libby Hearst) who have earned Second Team All-SLIAC accolades once each. The Foresters were the runners-up with program record scores at the last two SLIAC Championship Tournaments and have placed among the top four in their league each of the last 10 years.
Tamyn Tills, the team's head coach from 2014 to 2017, recently returned to that role after eight seasons as associate head coach. Her fourth year at the helm of the program will begin with Carthage College's Firebird Women's Fall Classic August 29-30. Her team will compete in six other tournaments before traveling to St. Louis, Missouri, for the SLIAC Championships October 5-7. Lake Forest will also play in additional events in the spring.
