The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its 2025 Scholar All-Americans and Team Academic Award winners on Tuesday and Lake Forest College was represented on both lists.
To be eligible for Scholar All-American status, an individual must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. In addition, each Individual is evaluated on a case by case basis by the Scholar All-American committee.
Murphy recently graduated as the Foresters' career leader with 305 ground balls and 194 caused turnovers. The latter figure ranks among the top 10 in NCAA Division III history. He was named Second Team All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2025 after earning First Team All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference accolades each of the previous three seasons and MLC Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2024. The double major in history and business is also a two-time member of the MLC All-Academic Team and a 2004 inductee into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.
Teams must also record a 3.0 grade point average to earn the USILA Team Academic Award. The Foresters, under head coach
Phil Dodson, accomplished the feat for the second straight season.
