College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Teams for cross country and track on Tuesday and four athletes from Lake Forest College were among the honorees.
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at their current institution and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. In addition, they must rank among the top 50 in the region in an individual event.
Junior AJ Jones, a biology major, earned the honor for the second consecutive season and fulfilled the athletic requirement for the award during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. After ranking 39 in the Midwest Region in the indoor 60m with a time of 7.99 seconds, she finished the outdoor season tied-for-33rd in the region in the 100m (12.36) and tied-for-35th in the 200m (25.55). Jones, who set program records in all three events, placed fourth in the 60m at the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships before earning All-MWC status with a runner-up performance in the 100m and a third-place finish in the 200m at the league's outdoor meet.
Sophomore Ollie Francis was also listed among the region's top 50 in an event during the indoor and outdoor seasons. He ranked 44th with a clocking of 1:59.05 in the indoor 800m before climbing all the way up to 16th outdoors with a time of 1:54.36. Francis now owns the program record in both types of venues and a first-place finish at the MWC Outdoor Championships made him the second 800m conference champion in team history. Tuesday's Academic All-District® award was the second of the year for Francis, who also earned the honor as a soccer player in the fall.
Senior Emmy Punches joined the team after the completion of the basketball season and ranked 42nd in the region in the javelin with a toss of 31.24m (102' 6"). She majored in business with a concentration in marketing.
Sophomore Lettia Hoda also qualified for Academic All-District® honors during the outdoor season. She posted a time of 18:26.71 in the 5000m to rank 43rd regionally and finished 12th in the event at the MWC Outdoor Championship Meet. Hoda was also sixth in the league in the indoor mile and 27th at the 2024 MWC Cross Country Championships.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-July.
