The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team pulled away in the second half of Wednesday's 17-8 victory over visiting Edgewood College.
The Foresters caused 21 turnovers in the contest, including a program record eight by senior
Savannah Frauhiger. Frauhiger also picked up a career-high nine ground balls, matching the second-highest single-game total in team annals.
Junior
Emma Sharp and senior
Jenna Doctor led Lake Forest at the offensive end of the field. Sharp finished with 10 points on four goals and six assists while Doctor scored seven times. They entered the contest sharing the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference lead and ranked 12th in the nation with 70 points. Sharp now has 45 assists and Doctor 65 goals and they are among the top 10 in the country in those categories.
The Eagles actually scored the game's first goal but the home team accounted for the next five, including two by junior
Daulath Khan. Senior
Krissy Kuwahara finished off the run and scored again later in the contest. Additional Forester tallies came from sophomore
Ella Maher and freshman
Avery Srnka with the latter also setting up a pair of goals on the day.
Lake Forest led 5-2 after the opening quarter and 8-4 at halftime. Edgewood closed to within three twice early in the third quarter before the Foresters put the game out of reach with an 8-0 run that lasted well into the fourth.
The Foresters had an 18-11 advantage in draw controls with junior
Shannon Gibbons leading the way with five.
Fellow junior
Cecilia Adams made six saves, including five on free position shots, to earn the victory.
Lake Forest improved to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in NACC play while Edgewood fell to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the league.
The Foresters will host Concordia University Wisconsin for Senior Day and Parents Day on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
