The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team led 9-0 after the first quarter and continued to pull away for a 23-3 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin at home on Saturday.
It was Senior Day for the Foresters and
Cass Barbera,
Ashley Carr,
Krissy Kuwahara,
Savannah Frauhiger,
Jenna Doctor,
Abby Meyer, and
Calliope Saban were celebrated before the game. They were on the team when the program began in 2022 and are the first four-year Forester women's lacrosse players.
All seven seniors were in the starting lineup and Doctor and Carr had hat tricks by the end of the first quarter. Doctor finished the game with five goals and an assist while Carr netted a career-high four goals and assisted on another. Meyer registered five draw controls and was responsible for back-to-back goals that were followed by a Kuwahara score in the second quarter. Frauhiger also got in the scoring column in the third and led the team with four caused turnovers and four ground balls in the contest.
At the other end of the field Saban stopped four of the Falcons' seven shots on goal to earn the victory.
Several other Foresters figured prominently in the box score. Junior
Emma Sharp scored three goals and set up five others for a team-high eight points while classmate
Shannon Gibbons had two tallies and led the squad with six draw controls. Sophomore
Ella Maher also struck twice and additional goals came from junior
Daulath Khan, sophomore
Eva Russell, and freshman
Lily Anderson.
Lake Forest improved to 8-4 overall and remained perfect in Northerrn Athletics Collegiate Conference play after five league games. Concordia Wisconsin fell to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Foresters will host Aurora University Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in a game featuring the only two teams in the NACC with perfect league records on the year.
