Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lake Forest on Wrong Side of Back-and-Forth Battle with River Falls

In a game that featured seven ties and four lead changes, the Forester women's lacrosse team fell 13-11 to the University of Wisconsi-River Falls at home on Saturday.

Lake Forest seniors Jenna Doctor, Krissy Kuwahara, and Ashley Carr each scored twice in the contest, as did junior Emma Sharp. Sophomore Ella Maher also had a pair of goals and senior Abby Meyer one in their first game since rejoining the team after the end of the hockey season.

Maher's first goal tied the game at one and Kuwahara's at two. The latter struck again late in the first quarter, which ended with the home team trailing 4-3.

The one-goal deficit turned into a lead of the same size by the end of the second. Sharp scored two goals and assisted Doctor on another in the period and the Foresters were ahead 6-5 after 30 minutes of play.

Three consecutive goals for the Falcons gave them an 8-6 advantage but Meyer's goal ended the run and was followed by both of Carr's to regain the lead for Lake Forest at the midpoint of the third quarter.

Unfortunately for the Foresters, the high-scoring period continued with back-to-back scores for River Falls to make the score 9-8 in favor of the visitors.

They continued the run with three more tallies to begin the fourth and goals from Maher and Doctor in the final 65 seconds closed out the scoring.

Doctor leads the Foresters with nine goals on the season and her 10 points are tied for the team lead with Sharp.

The Foresters had a slight 25-22 edge in ground balls and their 30 turnovers were four fewer than the Falcons' total. River Falls, however, had a convincing 19-9 edge in draw controls. Maher, Kuwahara, senior Savannah Frauhiger, and junior Isabel Bersie each caused three turnovers, Maher and freshman Addison Dale shared the team lead with four ground balls apiece, and freshman Avery Srnka had three draw controls.

Lake Forest junior goalkeeper Cecilia Adams finished the game with 10 saves, reaching double figures for the eighth time in her career.

The Forester are now 0-3 and the Falcons 2-0 this season.

Next week is Lake Forest's Spring Break and the team will travel to Kentucky to play at Centre College on Thursday and Transylvania University on Saturday.
