Thanks in large part to five goals each from senior
Jenna Doctor and junior
Emma Sharp, the Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team prevailed 18-11 at Centre College on Thursday.
With the game tied 9-9 going into the fourth quarter, Sharp set up Doctor with the goal that put the Foresters on top for good. Sophomore
Ella Maher's successful free position shot made the score 11-9 with 12:04 remaining but the Colonels closed back to within one less than a minute later.
Senior
Abby Meyer then netted the first of seven consecutive Lake Forest goals that put the game out of reach. Her second of 2025 started a run that included four scores from Sharp, who set one career high with five goals and matched another with eight points in the contest. She has nine of each for a team-high 18 points so far this spring. Senior
Ashley Carr struck twice in the period and has six scores on the season.
Doctor netted four goals and fellow senior
Krissy Kuwahara three in the first three quarters. It was the 15th time Doctor has scored at least five times in a game and her program record career total of 173 includes a team-high 14 this year. Kuwahara has seven on the season. Junior
Shannon Gibbons scored her first of the season in the opening period.
Lake Forest junior goalkeeper
Cecilia Adams made 11 saves to earn the victory and she led the visitors with three ground balls.
Maher tallied five draw controls and Kuwahawa and Meyer four apiece as the Foresters gained possession on 18 of 33 draws on the day. Kuwahara also had two caused turnovers, as did juniors
Claire Aimone and
Isabel Bersie.
The victory was the first for the Foresters in four games this season while Centre fell to 4-3.
Lake Forest will continue its Spring Break trip to Kentucky at Transylvania University Saturday at noon (ET).
