The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 7-1 at Aurora University, the fourth-ranked team in the nation, on Sunday.
The game was scoreless for nearly an entire period until the home team struck with just 13.3 seconds on the clock.
A power play goal for the Spartans doubled their lead three-and-a-half minutes into the second period. The margin was back down to one when Lake Forest senior forward
Logan Kittleson netted his first of the year at the 12:20 mark with junior
Jared Kaplowitz assisting.
Aurora regained its two-goal advantage with 4:32 to play in the second period and the Spartans pulled away with four more scores in the third.
The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 0-3-1 and Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark to 0-2. Aurora improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.
Lake Forest will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin, to take on Lawrence University next Friday night at 7:00 before hosting the Vikings at the same time on Saturday.Â
