Box Score The Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 3-2 by St. Olaf College at home on Sunday in the finale of their weekend series.
The first score of the game was a power play goal for the Oles less than two-and-a-half minutes into the contest. The Foresters answered at the 14:08 mark of the opening period when
Chase Freiermuth took a pass from fellow senior forward
Logan Kittleson between the circles and fired a shot over the goalie's right shoulder and in for the score.
The visitors regained the lead at 2:50 in the second and the score remained 2-1 for the rest of the period. They also struck again at the 11:48 mark in the third to make it a 3-1 game.
Lake Forest pulled the goalie late in the game and finally took advantage with 10.5 seconds on the clock. Sophomore forward
Max Jaldung's shot from just inside the blue line was saved but Freiermuth was there to put int he rebound for his second goal of the contest and third this season.
Time ran out on the Foresters' comeback bid, however. Despite out-shooting their guests 38-20 on the day, they fell to 3-6-1 on the year while St. Olaf improved to 6-2-2.
Lake Forest will resume Northern Collegiate Hocey Association play against Marian University next weekend. The series will begin in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Friday night at 7:00 and game two will be played in Lake Forest at the same time on Saturday.
