Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Foresters Prevail at Concordia Wisconsin, Earn Series Split

The Lake Forest College men's hockey team posted a 6-2 victory at Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday night to earn a split in the weekend series.

An unassisted score by senior forward Justin Ross at the 6:19 mark gave the Foresters the only goal of the opening period. It was his second of the season.

After scoring twice Friday night, Forester sophomore forward Max Jaldung accomplished the feat again 24 hours later. His first of game two came just 103 seconds into the second stanza and, like both of his goals on Friday, it was assisted by senior forwards Chase Freiermuth and Logan Kittleson.

The Falcons, however, converted a power play opportunity at 6:20 in the second and tied the score with 6:01 remaining in the period.

Lake Forest regained the lead late in the period on back-to-back goals just 34 seconds apart by senior forward Colin Bella. He now leads the team with six scores and eight points on the year.

Already ahead 4-2 after two periods, the Foresters increased their lead on sophomore defenseman Hunter Cooke's first career goal at 2:38 in the third and tacked on Jaldung's fourth of the weekend a little more than three minutes later. Jaldung was also credited with an assist on Bella's first goal, giving him the first three-point game of his collegiate career.

Earning the victory in goal for the visitors was senior Dylan Kruss, who turned away 34 of the Falcons' 36 shots on goal in the contest.

Lake Forest improved to 3-4-1 overall and 3-3-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Concordia Wisconsin, meanwhile, fell to 3-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 in the league.

The Foresters will host a non-conference series with St. Olaf College next Saturday and Sunday with face-off both days scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
