Annabelle Schroeder and Ethan Springer Named Forester Athletes of the Week

Soccer player Annabelle Schroeder and football player Ethan Springer were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Schroeder contributed to a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory over Grinnell College on Saturday. The sophomore midfielder's header in the 65th minute caromed off the crossbar but was good for an assist as the ball was headed back into the goal by senior Anna Hoffman to make the score 2-0. Schroeder netted the final goal of the contest exactly five minutes later, chasing down a rebound off a save by the Pioneer goalkeeper and sending it in from 15 yards out.

The victory clinched the team's third consecutive Midwest Conference championship and extended its season-opening winning streak to 17 games. Schroeder how has 18 points on six goals and as many assists on the year.

Springer, a sophomore quarterback, posted the fourth-highest completion percentage in program history on Saturday, connecting on 28 of 33 attempts (84.8%) in a 49-24 victory at Cornell College. He threw for a career-high 320 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 27 rushing yards on five carries in the contest. Springer completed passes to a dozen different receivers on the day.

With a completion percentage of 72.0 percent on the season, Springer ranks 11th in the nation and is on pace to shatter the current school record of 67.1 percent. In addition his pass efficiency rating of 154.8 would rank third in team annals.

Springer was also a Forester Athlete of the Week on October 14. It was the first such selection for Schroeder.
