Soccer players Greta Norv ille and Gustavo Machado were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday for their performances their respective Midwest Confernece Tournaments over the weekend.

Machado accounted for one of the men's team's goals in Lake Forest's 3-0 victory over Ripon College in the semifinals on Friday. The junior midfielder gave the home team a 2-0 lead at the 57:26 mark of the contest. The Foresters also defeated Grinnell College 4-0 in Saturday's tournament final with Machado assisting on the game's first two scores at 11:32 and 60:29.

Machado now has 10 points on four goals and two assists this season.

Norville was in goal for the women's team's 1-0 triumph in the tournament final on Saturday. The senior goalkeeper made several key plays as the last line of defense, including three saves, to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard throughout the contest.

The shutout was Norville's fourth this season and she improved to 10-0-0 with a 0.51 goals against average and .815 save percentage on the year.

Both victories sent Forester teams to the NCAA Tournament. The women will host the first two rounds this weekend and take on Spalding University in opening round. The men wil travel to St. Olaf College and face Luther College in round one.

The Forester Athlete of the Week honors were the first for both players.
