The Lake Forest College women's hockey team prevailed 6-1 at Northland College on Friday in its first game of 2025.
Junior forward
Macy Gehrke contributed to four of the Foresters' goals, including the opening score of the game. She was credited with an assist after fellow junior forward
Shannon Gibbons struck 3:17 into the contest with her first score of the season.
Gehrke doubled the visitors's lead at 5:55 and, after the LumberJills got on the scoreboard early in the second period, she helped set up senior defenseman
Sophia Chapman's first of the year at the 11:46 mark. Gehrke then raised her season goal total to five just 49 seconds into the final period.
The game's final two tallies came from senior defenseman
Abby Meyer, who now has three on the year.
The Foresters put at least 20 shots on goal in each period and out-shot Northland 63-18 overall.
Senior goaltender
Donna Fowler made seven saves in each of the first two periods and 17 on the day. She evened her record at 3-3-0 and raised her save percentage on the season to .914.
Lake Forest is now 4-5-2 in 2024-25 while Northland fell to 0-9-0.
The same two teams will face off again at Northland Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
