Senior
Peyton Noles paced Lake Forest (3-15, 2-8 MWC) with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and added eight rebounds.
Jamie Springstead joined Noles in doubles figures with 11 points, and guard
Rebecca Christodoulou struggled shooting from the field but led the Foresters with 10 rebounds.
Â
Lake Forest was smothered on the offensive end of the floor. The Foresters shot 28.6 percent from the field and were limited to 5-of-19 from three-point range for the game.
Â
It was a sloppy game on both sides, as both teams combined for 42 turnovers. Monmouth was more effective in converting giveaways into points, as the Fighting Scots recorded 16 points off turnovers, compared to Lake Forest's nine points off 22 Monmouth turnovers.
Â
Multiple players for Lake Forest had one of their best games of their career on the defensive end. Christodoulou and freshman Ariana Torralba tied a career high with four steals each, and Springstead's three first-quarter steals also tied her career best for a single game.
Â
After an even start to the game, both teams' offenses dried up in the second quarter. Lake Forest limited Monmouth to just 28.6 percent shooting, but the Foresters could not take advantage at the offensive end, shooting just 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) in the second and made just one of their final 12 shot attempts in the first half.
Â
The Foresters made a push for the lead right after halftime with a pair of layups inside from Noles to cut the Monmouth lead to 31-29. From there, however, Lake Forest could not buy a basket and went scoreless for 6:55, as the Fighting Scots went on an 11-0 run to extend their lead into double digits.
Â
Lake Forest cut the lead to eight multiple times in the final quarter but could not draw closer.

The Foresters are back in action on the road Saturday at Lawrence University at 1 p.m.
