Foresters Pull Away in Second Half, Rout Cornell

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team won its third consecutive game on Saturday, a 95-72 triumph over visiting Cornell College.

The Rams had no answer for Forester senior guard Alex Knight, who shot 15-for-19 from the field and finished with a game-high 33 points. He has scored 123 points with a .658 field goal percentage in the last four games and moved into 12th place in program history with 1,317 points in his career.

Knight also dished out five assists on Saturday while fellow senior guard Elijah Bull had seven. They are now sixth and seventh in team annals with 257 and 239 career assists, respectively.

Junior wing Luke Arington was next on the squad in scoring with a season-high 18 points. He gave the Foresters a boost in the first half, knocking down four three-pointers and scoring 13 points, and finished the day 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.

Fellow junior Wing Alex Forowycz also reached double figures with a dozen points while sophomore wing Coltrane Marchand led the home team with seven rebounds.

Lake Forest shot 55.9 percent from the field as a team while the Rams were at 49.2 percent. The Foresters outscored their guests 27-9 on three-pointers and 10-7 from the foul line and had a commanding 40-26 advantage on the boards in the contest.

Cornell's only lead of the game was 2-0. Lake Forest closed out the first half on a 15-7 run and led 51-41 at the break.

The Foresters maintained the double-digit lead throughout the second half and eventually extended it to 20 on a three-pointer by Forowycz with two-and-a-half minutes to play.

Lake Forest is now 6-8 and Cornell 9-5 overall this season and the teams are tied for third place in the Midwest Conference standings at 3-2 in league play.

The Foresters will look to extend their winning streak at Ripon College Tuesday night at 7:30.
