The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated in three sets at Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday night.

The Foresters led the opening set 18-14 but 9-3 run by the Falcons put them ahead 23-21. Kills by Lake Forest freshman Melania Mathiex and sophomore Meghan Winston evened the score but back-to-back points for the Falcons gave them a one-set lead.

Set two featured nine ties and five lead changes. The visitors were ahead by two before Concordia Wisconsin rattled off eight straight points to take the set 25-19.

The home team won the first three points and led throughout the third and final set. The margin grew to as many as 10 points late and the final score was 25-17.

Mathieux fell just short of her first collegiate double-double, finishing with nine digs and a team-high eight kills. Both marks are new career highs.

Senior Juli Barrientos led Lake Forest with a dozen digs and junior Lilly Robinson with 20 assists.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play with a home match against Ripon College Friday night at 7:00. It will be the first contest in the varsity gym of the Sports and Recreation Center since the venue's renovation this past summer.
