Despite out-shooting the home team 17-9, the Forester men's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday.
Lake Forest had a 10-3 advantage in shots in the first half and the game was tied 1-1 after 45 minutes of play. The Scarlet Hawks took the early lead in the 12th minute and the Foresters drew even in the 26th. A throw-in from the left sideline was allowed to bounce and reach the head of junior
Miguel Rodriguez. He sent the ball toward the left post to classmate Gio Gonzalez who deflected it with his head past the goalie and into the right side of the goal.
Illinois Tech regained the lead three-and-a-half minutes into the second half and added insurance scores at 61:09 and 68:25.
It was the first game of the Foresters' season to be decided by more than one goal. They fell to 1-5-0 while Illinois Tech improved to 4-0-1.
Lake Forest will play another non-conference game at Carroll University Wednesday night at 7:00.
