The Forester women's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Elmhurst University in Friday's season opener.
Lake Forest's first goal of the season was turned in by junior
Izzy DeStefano at the 17:02 mark. The team's leading scorer with 13 goals last season was in perfect position to score as fellow junior
Anna Hoffman took the ball up the left side of the field, turned her defender, and laid it back across the goal mouth.
The score remained 1-0 until the visitors doubles their advantage less than seven minutes into the second half on freshman
Annabelle Schroeder's first career goal. She played a nice give-and-go with junior
Anna Gracia and placed the ball in the lower right corner of the net, just past the outstretched arms of the Elmhurst goalkeeper.
The Bluejays got on the scoreboard in the 61st minute and then tied the game with just 1:58 on the clock.
Lake Forest out-shot the home team 7-6 and put five of those shots on target to the Bluejays' three.
The Foresters will be back on action on Sunday when they host the University of Dubuque. The home opener will begin at 3:00 p.m.
