The Lake Forest College men's lacrosse team cruised to a 15-2 victory at the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on Saturday.
Forester junior
Trip Gaston assisted freshman
Macklin Thomas on the game's first goal and then scored three goals himself in the first half and three more in the second. It was his second career six-goal game and he now has 26 scores on the season.
Fellow junior
Chas Dean and sophomore
Brant Schuckman each scored twice for the visitors while freshman
Carson Pagel had one goal and three assists. Pagel's 22 assists on the year are tied for the fourth-highest single-season total in team history.
Leading Lake Forest at the other end of the field were juniors
Jack Gillard and
Andrew Widlar. Gillard led the team with four caused turnovers while Widlar, the goalie, picked up a team-high five ground balls and stopped seven of the Eagles' eight shots on goal during the game's first three quarters. Widlar now owns a .584 save percentage and 7.84 goals against average on the year.
Lake Forest outscored Northwestern 4-0 in each of the first two quarters and led 11-1 after three quarters of play.
The victory was the sixth in a row for the Foresters and one shy of the program record set last season. The team is now 11-1 overall and 2-0 in Midwest Lacrosse conference play this spring.
Lake Forest will host Northland College next Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
