Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lake Forest Rolls against Northland

The Forester men's lacrosse team routed visiting Northland College 36-8 on Saturday.

Sophomores Dylan Alexander and Brant Schuckman racked up 10 points apiece in the contest. Alexander's nine goals and Schuckman's six assists were each just one shy of the program's single-game record in that category. Alexander's 11 ground balls were also just two short of the school record set by graduate student Gordon Kiesgen IV earlier this year.

Junior Trip Gaston had two goals and two assists on Saturday and is now the Foresters' career leader in points with 112. Right behind him is fellow junior John Casey, whose three goals and two assists against Northland leave him tied-for-second in team annals with 110 points, matching the previous record set by Mark Talgo in 1985.

Freshman Carson Pagel, sophomore Brendan Herbert, and junior Max Guyott matched Gaston with four points apiece and freshman Macklin Thomas earned a hat trick, scoring three times in the game's first 10 minutes.

Lake Forest freshman Tyler Dearmin and juniors Parker Hevers and Dominic Lewis also turned in multi-goal performances while sophomore Ryan Dousevicz and junior Caden Elias each finished with three points on a goal and two assists. Lewis also led the squad with three caused turnovers.

Kiesgen and sophomores John O'Reilly and Gabe Boston combined to win 32 of 44 face-offs in the contest, including 16 where they picked up the ground ball.

The home team's goalies combined to save 10 of 18 shots on goal from the LumberJacks. Junior Andrew Widlar started, was 2-for-3, and earned the victory. Fellow junior John Niccoli made two saves in 13:32 of scoreless play, freshman Benjamin Flaherty made four in the third quarter, and sophomore Jacob Lipson two in the fourth.

The Foresters' 36 goals and 27 assists are new program records and their 65 ground balls were just one off the mark.

Lake Forest claimed its team record-tying seventh straight victory and improved to 12-1 overall and 3-0 in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play this season. Northland fell to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in the league.

The Foresters will host the University of Dubuque at 1:00 next Saturday afternoon with the winner claiming the conference's regular season title.
