The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team pulled away in the second quarter and posted a 17-10 victory at Hamline University on Saturday.
Both teams scored three goals in the first quarter. Junior
Jenna Doctor accounted for two of the visitors' scores and senior
Ryleigh Nelson the other.
Nelson assisted Doctor to give the Foresters the lead for good early in the second. Nelson also added another goal and assist later in the quarter and additional tallies from senior
Ali Graham, junior
Abby Meyer, and freshman
Ella Maher made the scored 8-4 at halftime.
Lake Forest continued to pull away in the third with three goals from Nelson, two from Doctor, and one each from Maher and Meyer. The lead reached nine at 15-6 before back-to-back Piper goals to close out the period.
Nelson set up Doctor's sixth goal of the game and team-high 61st of the season before earning her sixth assist and 11th point of the contest on a score by sophomore
Daulath Khan. Nelson, who reached double figures in points for the fourth time this spring, now has 90 points on 40 goals and 50 assists on the season.
Graham raised her 2024 goal total to 30, Khan to 13, and Meyer and Maher to 8 apiece. Maher led Lake Forest with four ground balls and Graham with four draw controls.
Sophomore goalie
Cecilia Adams made seven saves and earned the victory.
The victory was the 11th in a row for the Foresters after a pair of losses to open the season. They are 3-0 in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play. Hamilne fell to 5-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Lake Forest will return to Saint Paul, Minnesota, next Saturday to take on the University of Northwestern at noon.
