The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team defeated visiting Edgewood College 19-3 on Monday. The Foresters' 2024 home opener turned out to be the first career victory for Head Coach
Casey Ryan.
It was an historic performance by Lake Forest senior
Ryleigh Nelson, who matched her own program records with five assists and eight points in the contest. She set up a pair of goals in the first quarter and one in each of the other three periods. Her hat trick included a tally late in the opening quarter and two more in the third. She is the Foresters' points leader with a dozen this season and 115 in her career.

Jenna Doctor scored five times for the home team while senior
Ali Graham and sophomore
Emma Sharp finished with three goals apiece. Additional scores came from freshman

Ashley Carr and
Krissy Kuwahara, sophomore
Daulath Khan, and senior
Lila Beckwith. Russell also added two assists.
Kuwahara led all players in the game with four ground balls and seven draw controls and shared game-high honors with Nelson with three caused turnovers.

Cecilia Adams made five saves in the game's first 49 minutes and junior
Calliope Saban added two move in the final 11.
Lake Forest scored the first five goals of the day and led 8-1 after the first quarter. The lead reached double figures at 10-2 with three minutes to play in the second and the Foresters tacked on one more goal before halftime. A 4-1 advantage for the home team in the third quarter made the score 17-3 going into the fourth.
Both teams are now 1-2 on the season.
Lake Forest will travel to Elmhurst University on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
