In a game that featured eight ties and three lead changes, the Forester women's lacrosse team was edged out 17-16 in overtime at the University of Wiscoson-La Crosse on Saturday.
Four Lake Forest players finished with at least four points in the contest. Junior
Jenna Doctor scored twice in the first minute of the game, once in the third quarter, and again to tied the game at 15 with 2:13 remaining in the fourth. Senior
Ali Graham also had four goals — one in each quarter — and her tally with less than 30 seconds to play forced overtime. Doctor and Graham joined senior
Ryleigh Nelson as the only players in the program's 36-game history to surpass 100 career points. Nelson also turned in a four-point performance, assisting on Graham's goal in the first quarter and scoring three of her own in the second.
Sophomore
Emma Sharp set career highs with three goals and three assists to join Nelson, Doctor, and Graham as the only Foresters with as many as six points in a game.
Additional Lake Forest goals came from junior
Krissy Kuwahara, who scored on a free position shot late in the second quarter, and freshman
Eva Russell, whose first career tally pulled the visitors to within a goal with 5:24 to play in regulation.
Graham's eight draw controls led the Foresters and matched the second-highest single-game total in team history and Kuwahara finished with a team-high four caused turnovers.
Lake Forest is now 0-2 and La Crosse 2-0 this season.
The Foresters will play their home opener against Edgewood College Monday at 3:30 p.m.
