Foresters Roll against Grinnell, Extend Winning Streak to Four

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team hosted and defeated Grinnell College 128-102 on Saturday.

Leading the way for the Foresters were junior forward Michael Michaud and junior guard Alex Knight with a career-high 37 and 34 points, respectively. Both were extremely efficient with Michaud shooting 16-for-18 from the field and Knight 16-for-20. Knight also reached double figures in rebounds with 11 while Michaud added eight.

Lake Forest freshman wing Coltrane Marchand's 19 points missed his best scoring output of the year by one while his career-high 13 rebounds led all players in the contest.

Sophomore wings Alex Forowicz and Luke Arington connected three times each from beyond the arc and finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Senior guard Zach Foster dished out a team-high five assists and the Foresters outscored the Pioneers by 32 points during his 21 minutes on the court. Junior guard Elijah Bull chipped in with a game-high five steals for Lake Forest.

The Foresters shot a season-high 67.1 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc while Grinnell was at just 34.4 percent overall and 23.7 percent from long range. The home team also had a 50-47 edge in rebounds.

Lake Forest trailed 11-9 before scoring 12 straight points, including eight by Knight, to take the lead for good. Grinnell closed to within five at 31-26 but the Foresters accounted for 31 of the game's next 41 points to increase their advantage to 26. The teams went into the locker room at halftime with the home team ahead 66-42. Lake Forest's scoring output in the first 20 minutes of the contest matched the fourth-highest scoring half in program history.

The Foresters did not let up in the second half, leading by no less than 18 points and by as many as 38 in the period.

Lake Forest's fourth consecutive victory raised the team's overall record on the season to 7-14 and Midwest Conference mark to 5-7. Grinnell entered the game tied for first place in the league but fell to 16-5 overall and 10-3 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin, on Tuesday to take on Lawrence University at 5:30 p.m.
