The Forester men's basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon at Illinois College, falling 107-91.
Lake Forest was fairly efficient offensively, shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. The Blueboys were better, however, connecting on 60.9 percent of their field goal attempts overall and on 14 of 26 shots from beyond the arc.
Junior guard
Alex Knight led Lake Forest with 33 points, matching his scoring output at Lawrence Tuesday night and giving him exactly 100 points in the last three games combined. He shot 12-for-20 from the field and added six rebounds.
Sophomore wing
Alex Forowycz accounted for five of the Foresters' eight three-pointers on the afternoon and finished with 28 points while freshman wing
Coltrane Marchand also reached double figures with 14. Marchand also led the visitors with eight rebounds, four assists, and a pair of blocked shots.
Illinois College started fast, scoring 21 points in the first six minutes and building a 17-point lead in the opening period. The Foresters closed to within six later in the half and trailed 59-50 after 20 minutes of play.
A basket by Knight with 11:56 to play made it a three-point game bu Lake Forest got no closer. The home team responded with a 12-2 run and maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way.
The Foresters fell to 8-15 overall and 6-8 in Midwest Conference play. Illinois College is now 20-4 overall and atop the league standings at 12-3.
Lake Forest will be in action next at Ripon College Wednesday evening at 5:30.
