The Forester men's basketball team began the 2024-25 season with a 97-86 loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering at home Friday night.
Junior guard
Alex Forowycz and senior guard
Alex Knight combined to score 47 points on the night. Forowycz was extremely efficient offensively, connecting on nine of 13 field goal attempts, including five of seven from three-point range. Knight added five rebounds and a game-high seven assists and four steals to his stat line.
Sophomore wing
Coltrane Marchand was next on the team with 16 points and he added a team-high six rebounds. Senior guard
Elijah Bull also reached double figures in scoring with 10.
Lake Forest shot 50.8 percent from the field and knocked down 13 of 29 (44.8%) attempts from beyond the arc. The Raiders, however, shot 54.8 percent from the floor and 10-for-18 (55.6%) from long range and outscored the home team 19-7 from the foul line. MSOE also had a 33-27 rebounding edge on the evening.
The first half featured 10 ties and 9 lead changes and the teams went into their locker rooms at halftime tied at 46.
MSOE began the second half with first straight points but back-to-back three-pointers by Forowycz and a basket by Knight gave the Foresters a 54-51 advantage. The visitors responded with seven points in a row and they led by between two and eight for more than 11 minutes. A 15-3 run by the Raiders suddenly put the game out of reach.
The Foresters will be back out on their home court next Tuesday against Wheaton College with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
