The Forester men's basketball team shot 62.5 percent from the field and defeated visiting Dayspring Bible College 107-68 Tuesday night.
Lake Forest was successful on 45 of 72 field goal attempts and connected on 14 of 31 shots (45.2%) from three-point range. The Foresters also out-rebounded the Eagles 42-25 ion the contest.
Senior guard
Alex Knight was nearly perfect offensively and finished with a team-high 21 points in 22 minutes of play. He connected on all 10 of his field goal attempts, including a three-pointer, and did not commit a turnover in the contest. His only statistical blemish came from the foul line, where he missed his only attempt of the night. Knight is just the eighth player in program history to make at least 10 field goals in a game without a miss.
Junior guard
Alex Forowycz was next on the team with 13 points while sophomore wing
Coltrane Marchand and freshman forward
John Mayhew added a dozen apiece. Mayhew was 6-for-7 from the floor and Marchand 5-for-7 with a pair of three-pointers.
Sophomore guard
Jude Love led Lake Forest with eight rebounds and senior guard
Elijah Bull with the same number of assists.
Fourteen Foresters scored in the contest.
The only deficit Lake Forest faced was 2-0 but the game was tied at 14 after six minutes of play. The Foresters outscored their guests 34-12 over the next nine minutes and took a 58-38 lead into the locker room at halftime. They also accounted for nine of the first 10 points after halftime and the margin eventually grew to 40 late in the game.
The victory evened Lake Forest's record on the season at 3-3 while Dayspring Bible fell to 2-6.
The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play at Monmouth College next Tuesday with tip-off sceduled for 7:30 p.m.
