Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Foresters Open Weekend Series with 3-0 Victory at Lawrence

The Lake Forest College women's hockey team prevailed 3-0 at Lawrence University Friday night to begin this weekend's home-and-home series.

The shutout was the first of the season for the Foresters and the second in the career of goaltender Angie Lombardi. The junior turned away all 18 of the Vikings' shot on goal, including eight in the final period, to keep the home team off the scoreboard.

Lake Forest scored once in each period, beginning with a power play goal by junior forward Macy Gehrke at the 8:50 mark. Her first of the season was set up by senior defenseman Sophia Chapman and sophomore forward Ella Maher.

The first career goal for freshman forward Lily Anderson at 9:21 was the only score of the second period. She gained control of the puck behind the Forester net and skated past multiple Vikings on her way up the middle of the ice before slipping a shot past the goalie.

Anderson also assisted on the final goal of the contest, which was scored by sophomore forward Jasmine Kohl with 2:11 remaining.

Lake Forest is now 2-2-1 overall this season and 1-1-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Lawrence fell to 1-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the league.

The same two teams will face off in Lake Forest's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
