The Forester women's cross country team placed 20th and the men 28th at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet on Saturday.
Sophomores
Lettia Hoda and
Sophie Graham led the Lake Forest women once again. Hoda's 6-kilometer time of 24:29.9 was good for 91st place in the 210-runner field while Graham was just three places behind her in 24:33.1. Junior
Megan Dodrill was next on the team in 134th with a career-best time of 25:32.7 and season-best marks were turned in by senior
Delfina Jorgensen (25:59.5), freshman
Eleanor Clark (27:18.7), and juniors
Julie Dorner (27:57.5) and
Jacquelyn Han (28:48.8).
The University of Chicago finished first as a team in the women's race and was followed by Washington University in St. Louis. Lake Forest was 20th, just ahead of Coe College and Buena Vista University.
The Forester men were led for the fourth time this season by freshman
Owen Lashenik, who traveled the 8-kilometer route at Saukie Golf Course in 27:44 and placed 145th out of 220 finishers. Sophomore
Ali Faiz was next on the team in 28:09.4, followed by senior
Bart Brophy with a time of 28:36.1. Sophomore
Austin Hewes also broke 30 minutes with a clocking of 29:54 and freshmen
Demos Manoukis and
Ian Parsons and sophomore
Jack Zunker rounded out the Foresters.
Wartburg College edged out North Central College by just four points for the men's team title. Lake Forest was 28th, finishing slightly behind Dominican University and ahead of Rockford University.
It was the final meet of the season for the Foresters.
