The Lake Forest College men's soccer team qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third consecutive season but was defeated 5-0 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the opening round on Friday.

Eau Claire, which is ranked seventh in the nation by United Soccer Coaches, pulled away by heading in a pair of goals on set pieces in the game's first 20 minutes. An additional score in the 40th minute made it a 3-0 game at the break and the home team tacked on two more in the second half.

The Foresters actually had a slight majority of the game's possession and forced the Blugold goalkeeper to make four saves on the day. Lake Forest created two corner kick opportunities while Eau Claire had four, including one that generated the second goal of the game.

The loss snapped the Foresters' six-game winning streak, the seventh-longest run in program history, and they finished the season 10-8-3.

Eau Claire is now 16-1-4 on the year and will play in the second round of the tournament on Saturday.
