The Forester women's hockey team was defeated 2-1 by Aurora University in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night.
All three of the goals in the game were scored on the power play. Aurora was 2-for-6 and Lake Forest 1-for-8 on the night with an opponent in the penalty box.
After a scoreless opening period, the Spartans took the lead at 7:14 in the second but Forester sophomore forward
Ella Maher's second goal of the weekend tied the game with 5:36 to play in the middle period. Junior forward
Macy Gehrke earned an assist on the play.
Aurora's game-winner was scored just eight seconds into the power play chance and with 3:23 on the clock in the final period.
Lake Forest out-shot Aurora in each period and 37-20 in the contest. Forester junior goaltender
Angie Lombardi finished with 18 saves.
The Foresters are now 1-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 with two points in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Aurora evened its overall record at 1-1-2 and improved to 1-0-1 with four points in the league.
Lake Forest will face Lawrence University twice next weekend with the teams facing off in Appleton, Wisconsin Friday night at 8:00 and in Lake Forest Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
