Women's soccer was the fourth and final Lake Forest sport to compete at home on Saturday and finished off the College's Homecoming with a 2-0 triumph over Knox College.
The Foresters took the lead at the 29:04 mark on junior
Izzy DeStefano's ninth goal of the season. She took a through-ball from freshman
Riley Henrichs and fired a shot into the top-right corner of the net. DeStefano now has five goals in her last five appearances and the assist represented the first career point for Henrichs.
Junior
Anna Hoffman began the contest trailing DeStefano for the team lead in goals by one and made sure she finished the day the same way after kicking in a corner kick from senior
Theresa Presberg less than five minutes into the second half.
Lake Forest out-shot the Prairie Fire 14-0 in the first half and 22-3 for the game. The home team also had a dozen corner kick opportunities to Knox's one.
Forester senior goalkeeper
Franca Finch turned away the Prairie Fire's only shot on goal and earned her fourth consecutive shutout and 12th of her career, tying her for fifth place in program history in that category.
The victory lifted Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 7-2-2 and the team remained perfect in Midwest Conference play through three league games. Knox fell to 1-9-0 overall and 0-2-0 in MWC play.
The Foresters will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin, next Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. game at Lawrence University.
