The Lake Forest College men's hockey team dropped a 6-1 decision to visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday night in the opener of the teams' weekend series.
The Foresters' only goal of the night came from
Justin Ross, who received a pass from fellow sophomore forward
Colin Bella and fired a shot from inside the left circle into the top-left corner of the goal. The second goal of the season for Ross was also assisted by freshman defenseman
Fabrizio Mazzarelli and tied the score at the 8:50 mark of the opening period.
The Raiders, however, regained the lead on a power play goal with 8:30 on the clock and went into the locker room at the first intermission leading 3-1 after another tally in the final minute.
MSOEÂ converted another power play opportunity in the second period and broke the game open with two more scores in the third. The visitors outshot the Foresters 46-24 on the night.
The loss left Lake Forest with an overall record of 6-14-0 and a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association mark of 3-10-0. The Raiders improved to 10-8-2 overall and 4-8-1 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
