Lake Forest College defensive end Alex Bendler was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in the Foresters' 41-7 victory over visiting Cornell College on Saturday.

Bendler was the team's leading tackler with seven stops, including 2.0 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. The Forester defense limited the Rams to just 127 total yards on the day and the visitors posted negative yardage totals in the second and third quarters.

A graduate student, Bendler now ranks fourth in program history with 45.0 tackles for loss and 25.5 sacks in his career.

The D3football.com Team of the Week began in 1999. Bendler, who was also listed after last year's regular season finale, is among 26 Lake Forest players to be recognized and one of just six Foresters to earn the honor more than once.
