The Lake Forest College women's cross country team placed fourth and the men sixth at Rockford University's Rock River Invite on Friday.
Freshman
Sophie Graham was the runner-up in the field of 62 competitors, completing the course in 19:47.5 to post the 16th-fastest 5-kilometer time in program history. Classmate
Lettia Hoda was next on the squad and 18th overall in 21:47.8 and senior
Becca Ray placed 28th with a time of 23:40.8.
The Forester men's team was led by junior
Bart Brophy, whose 5-kilometer time of 18:10.9 was good for 25th place in the 58-runner field. Freshman
Sam Smith was next in 38th with a clocking of 19:29.2.
Aurora University finished first in the women's team standings, edging out Harper College by two points (36-38). Beloit College was third with a score of 107, just two points ahead of Lake Forest.
Harper's 34 points on the men's side were five fewer than runner-up Aurora. The Foresters' 155 points were good for sixth place, nine better than Beloit.
Lake Forest will be in action again at Wheaton College's Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday, September 16.
