Box Score After prevailing 8-3 in Saturday's series opener, the Lake Forest College men's hockey team was defeated 4-1 by visiting SUNY Canton on Sunday to close out 2023.
The Foresters actually scored the game's first goal at the 12:50 mark of the opening period.
Tyler Buonopane pushed the puck into the middle of the offensive zone from the left side while fellow junior forward
Jared Gerger came in from the right. Gerger quickly fired a shot into the right side of the net to give the home team the early lead. Sophomore forward
Colin Bella was also credited with an assist on the play.

Alexander Rohlf kept the Kangaroos off the scoreboard until two minutes into the second period and the score remained 1-1 until the visitors netted a short-handed goal at 9:21 in the third. They added an insurance goal with 3:29 to play and tacked on an empty net score with 1:41 on the clock.
Rohlf made 31 saves in 34 chances while the Foresters put 41 shots on goal in the contest.
The loss leaves Lake Forest with an overall record of 5-8-0 while SUNY Canton improved to 3-11-0.
The Foresters will resume Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play against Concordia University Wisconsin next weekend. The teams will face off in Lake Forest Friday night at 7:00 and in Mequon, Wisconsin, at the same time on Saturday. The winner of the series will earn th Border Battle Trophy, which the Foresters currently possess after last year's weekend sweep.
