The Forester women's hockey team earned its sixth consecutive victory Friday night, a 4-0 triumph at Lawrence University.
The visitors' star of the game on offense was sophomore forward
Zara Post, who netted a goal in each period for her first career hat trick. Post scored what proved to be her second career game-winning goal at the 11:51 mark of the opening period, added another while on the power play almost exactly a period later, and then tacked on another power play goal at 2:17 in the third.
Fellow sophomore forward
Macy Gehrke accounted for the Foresters' other goal at 9:43 in the second stanza.
Junior defenseman
Abby Meyer and senior forward
Danielle Selby each had two assists on the evening.
The shutout was the second in a row and fourth in the last six games for the Foresters. Freshman goaltender
Chelsea Denniss made 26 saves, including 11 in the final period, and is now 5-2-0 with a 1.88 goals against average and .941 save percentage this season.
Lake Forest is now 6-4-0 overall and 5-2-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Lawrence fell to 1-9-1 overall and 0-5-0 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in Lake Forest's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
