The Forester women's hockey team doubled up visiting Lawrence University 2-1 Saturday evening to complete a weekend sweep of the Vikings.
The game-winning goal came off the stick of freshman forward
Jasmine Kohl with just 4:29 to play in the game. Junior defenseman
Abby Meyer's shot from just inside the top of the right circle was saved by the Lawrence goaltender but Kohl was there to put in the rebound. It was her second score of the season and both were game-winners.
Freshman forward
Ella Maher was credited with her second assist of the night, having already helped set up Meyer at the 9:07 mark of the opening period. Meyer's shot from the middle of the right circle flew just over the goalie's left elbow and into the net. Freshman forward
Victoria Liu also assisted on Meyer's team-high fifth goal and fourth power play score of the season.
The Vikings scored their only goal of the night five minutes into the third period. Forester freshman goaltender Chelsea Dennis made 20 saves, raising her percentage on the year to .942 and lowering her goals against average to 1.77.
Lake Forest improved to 7-4-0 overall and 6-2-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Lawrence is now 1-10-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the league.
The Foresters will not play again until hosting a pair of non-conference games against fellow NCHA members at the end of the month. They will host the University of Dubuque on Friday, December 29, and Trine University two days later.
