The Lake Forest College men's basketball team staged a second half comeback but eventually fell 86-83 at Carroll University on Tuesday.
The Foresters trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and by a dozen at 60-48 with 13:15 to play in the contest. A 10-2 run trimmed the margin to four and the visitors tied the score at 68 on a three-pointer by junior guard
Elijah Bull with 7:09 to play. They briefly pulled ahead on three separate occasions, the last on a pair of free throws by junior guard
Alex Knight with 58.3 seconds on the clock. The Pioneers, however, regained the lead on the next possession and added two free throws with 9.9 ticks left to pull out the victory.

Michael Michaud led all players in the game with 19 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Bull and sophomore wing
Alex Forowycz finished with 16 points apiece and Knight added 15 to go with six boards and a team-high five assists.
Michaud shot 8-for-10 from the field and the Foresters were at 44.3 percent as a team. They made eight three points in 24 attempts and shot just 13-for-22 from the foul line. The Pioneers connected on 50.7 percent of their field goal attempts but also struggled from beyond the arc (3-for-18) and at the line (13-for-21). Rebounds were 43-42 in favor of Lake Forest while Carroll's 10 turnovers were two fewer than the Foresters' total number of miscues.
The loss dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 2-3 while Carroll improved to 5-1.
The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play at Grinnell College Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
