The Forester men's basketball team hosted and defeated the University of Chicago 89-75 on Saturday.
Sophomore wing
Alex Forowycz scored Lake Forest's first eight points and added 10 more as the home team jumped out to a 30-12 lead after 10 minutes of play. The Foresters shot 70.8 percent from the field in the first half, led by as many as 21 in the period, and took a 45-28 lead into the locker room at the break.
The margin grew to 22 points early in the second half and did not drop below 15 until the final minute.
The Foresters connected on 58.2 percent of their field goal attempts, including 8 of 19 shots from beyond the arc, on the afternoon. The Maroons were at 44.9 percent overall but just 5-for-26 from three-point range. Both teams grabbed 32 rebounds and Chicago had the edge in turnovers, committing just eight while forcing 13.
Lake Forest junior guard
Alex Knight led all players in the game with a career-high 33 points. He shot 11-for-15 from the field and added four assists, a pair of steals, and a game-high eight rebounds.
Forowycz was next with 26 points while sophomore forward
Noah Deitch added 11. Junior guard
Elijah Bull finished with eight points and a game-high seven assists.
The victory evened the Foresters record on the season at 2-2 while Chicago fell to 3-1.
Lake Forest will travel to Carroll University on Tuesday for a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.
