Box Score Lake Forest College volleyball player Mia Atkins was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance during the team's three league matches at home last week.

The Foresters started the week by defeating visiting Lawrence University in three sets. Atkins entered the match in the second set and finished the evening with two solo blocks and four kills without an attack error in five attempts.

Atkins added four more blocks and three kills in Friday night's five-set loss to Cornell College. The freshman middle blocker then matched her season-high with seven blocks and seven kills in a four-set triumph over Grinnell on Saturday. The victory clinched Lake Forest's spot in the four-team MWC Tournament November 10-11.

In the three matches combined, Atkins tallied 13 blocks, pounded out 14 kills, and posted a .444 hitting percentage. She now leads the league with 0.79 blocks per set on the season.
