Lake Forest College volleyball player
Mary Gegen was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the team's four-set victories at Knox College and Monmouth College over the weekend.
Gegen finished with 11 kills and 14 digs at Knox on Friday. It was her fifth double-double this season and the 21st of her career. The Foresters won the match 25-14, 23-25, 25-12, 25-15.
Lake Forest dropped the first set 25-23 but took the next three 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 at Monmouth on Saturday. Gegen established a new career high with 24 kills, matching the second-highest total in team history for a four-set match, and posted a .468 hitting percentage. The senior outside hitter also had nine digs and three blocks in the contest.
Gegen is the Foresters' active leader with 774 kills, 633 digs, and 126 blocks in her career.
