The Forester cross country teams travel to Iowa to compete in Saturday's Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Grinnell College. The Lake Forest women placed fifth while the men were eighth.
The men's 8-kilometer race was first and Lake Forest's top runner was junior
Bart Brophy in 45th place. He completed the course in 28:25.77 while the team's second finisher was sophomoreÂ
Patrick Cadiz in 72nd place with a time of 30:30.78.
Grinnell placed first in the men's team standings with 32 points, 14 fewer than runner-up Cornell College. The Foresters' 223 points were 27 behind seventh-place Knox College and 29 better than ninth-place Beloit College.
The top 20 runners in each race earn All-MWC honors and Forester freshmen
Sophie Graham and
Lettia Hoda were 14th and 15th, respectively, in the women's 6K. Graham posted a time of 24:21.87 while Hoda finished in 24:28.54. They are the first Forester freshman female duo to earn All-MWC honors since Shanna Palmer and Michelle Kendrick in 1996. Junior
Delfina Jorgensen was next on the team and 48th overall in 26:53.87.
Grinnell also won the women's team competition and the Pioneers' 37 points were 13 clear of second-place Lawrence University. Lake Forest finished with 143 points, 19 more than fourth-place Cornell and 30 fewer than sixth-place Beloit.
Select Foresters will return to Iowa in two weeks for the NCAA Division III Regional Meet.
