Box Score The Lake Forest College women's basketball team defeated visiting Mount Mary University 70-36 Tuesday night in the Foresters' final non-conference game of the season.
Lake Forest scored the game's first seven points and tripled up the Blue Angels 21-7 in the opening period. The margin continued to grow and the home team led 41-15 at halftime. Mount Mary actually outscored the Foresters 14-13 in the third quarter but added just seven points while allowing 16 in the fourth.
Junior forward Annie Lally shot 8-for-10 from the field and led Lake Forest with 17 points on the night. Senior forward Kara Schoenlein and guard Maddie Glennon were next with eight points apiece and freshman guard Peyton Davidson filled up the stat sheet with six points and a game-high 11 rebounds and six assists.
Three other Foresters grabbed at least seven boards and their 63 rebounds as a team matched the fourth-highest total in program history. The visitors pulled down just 26. Lake Forest shot 39.2 percent from the field while limiting Mount Mary to just 27.8 on 25 fewer attempts.
The Foresters are now 6-12 overall this season while Mount Mary fell to 0-17.
Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play at home Thursday against Knox College. The game, which was originally scheduled for January 4 but postponed due to COVID-19 protocols, will begin at 5:30 p.m.
