Foresters Drop Home Opener to Benedictine

Box Score

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team was unable to maintain its halftime lead and fell 67-59 to visiting Benedictine University in the Foresters' first home game of the season.

Sophomore Johnny Roeser and freshman Adam Weingard each scored six points during the home team's 17-6 run to open the game. Lake Forest led 35-28 after the first half and remained ahead for the first four minutes of the second. A 10-0 run by the Eagles gave the visitors the lead for good and the margin eventually reached 10 points with four minutes to play. The third three-pointer of the day by freshman Tommy Condon with 31 seconds left made it a five-point game but the Foresters did not score again.

Roeser and Condon tied for game-high honors with 13 points apiece while Weingard added 11. Roeser also led all players in the contest with 10 rebounds for his second double-double in as many games this season.

Lake Forest shot 42.9 percent from the field while Benedictine was at 41.3 percent. Both teams made four three-pointers and the Eagles outscored the home team 11-7 at the foul line. The Foresters finished with two more rebounds (42-40) but three more turnovers (17-14) than their guests.

Benedictine improved to 7-2 while Lake Forest fell to 0-2 on the year. The same two teams will play again Tuesday night at 7:00 at Benedictine.
