Foresters Compete with Lawrence and Whitewater in Double Dual

Six different Foresters won at least one event, including senior Frederick Weichmann in the 100-backstroke, as Lake Forest took on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and host Lawrence University in a double-dual meet on Saturday.

Weichmann turned in the third of five victories for the Forester men. His time of 56.45 seconds was nearly a second-and-a-half faster than that posted by the runner-up from Whitewater.

Lake Forest's first triumph of the meet came in the women's 200-freestyle, where freshman Kylie Morgan prevailed by just two tenths of a second with a time of 2:05.55.

Senior diver Heath Ogawa added as many points as possible to the Foresters' total in the diving events, tallying 269.15 points off the 3-meter board and 307.70 points in the 1-meter competition. Junior Lizzie John's made it a Lake Forest sweep in the 3-meter event, winning by 2.15 points with a score of 201.15.

Sophomore Nathan Ulm led the only 1-2 Forester finish of the day in the men's 100-butterfly, completing the race in 55.03 seconds to edge out senior Blake Rhodes (56.32).

Shortly after Weichmann's win in the 100-backstroke, freshman Aaron Helms posted a victory in the 500-freestyle with a time of 4:52.74.

The runner-up finish by Rhodes in the 100-butterfly was his second of the day, having also placed second in the 50-freestyle in 23.23 seconds. Additional second-place finishes were turned in by Helms in the 200-freestyle (1:49.32), freshman Kerry Mullen in the 50-freestyle (26.09), Johns in 1-meter diving (195.30 points), sophomore Susan Guo in the 100-butterfly (1:00.39), and junior Rachel Trevillian in the 100-backstroke (1:06.45).

The Forester men split the meet, falling 123-98 to Whitewater but defeating Lawrence 154-64, and are now 2-2 in dual meets on the year. The women fell to 0-4 after dropping a 140-93 decision to Whitewater and a 141-94 final to Lawrence.

Lake Forest will host Illinois Institute of Technology next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in the team's final home meet of the season.
