Box Score Junior forward Charlie Izaguirre scored the game-winning goal with 11 minutes to play as the Lake Forest College men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin with a 3-2 victory at home Saturday night.
Izaguirre, who also scored a goal in Friday night's 5-3 victory in Mequon, Wisconsin, was assisted by senior forward Jack Lewis and senior defenseman Travis Hill at the 8:59 mark of the third period.
Lake Forest trailed 2-0 after surrendering a power play goal in each of the first two periods. The home team began the comeback with a power play score of its own 93 seconds into the third. Junior forward Billy Kent's second goal of the season was assisted by freshman defenseman Connor Duncan and senior defenseman Mark Esshaki, who leads the team with three helpers on the year. Forester sophomore forward Bron Loiselle then tied the score on the game's first even-strength goal. The unassisted score at 4:25 was his first of the season.
The Falcons out-shot the home team 10-5 in the first period and 14-9 in the second. The Foresters had a 12-11 edge in shots on goal in the final 20 minutes.
Lake Forest senior goaltender Billy Cooper made 33 saves in 35 chances on the night.
The season-opening sweep gave the Foresters four points in the conference standings and they sit atop the league's South Division after the first weekend of the season.
Lake Forest will play another home-and-home conference series next weekend. The Foresters will host St. Norbert College, the second-ranked team in the nation, Friday night at 7:00 before facing the Green Knights on their home ice at the same time on Saturday.
